Sifu Werner Leuschner

Sifu Werner Leuschner, has trained in various martial arts for over 34 years of which 30 have been dedicated to Wing Chun & Escrima. He has received his 8th Duan Gold Sash in Wing Chun and his 5th Duan Gold Sash in Escrima. Sifu Leuschner’s training comes from a number of European and Chinese grandmasters some of who were friends and trainers of Bruce Lee. He is currently a Disciple of Lam Man Hog in Wing Chun.

Martial art has been a major influence in Sifu Leuschner’s life for over 34 years. During that time, he has acquired more than 10 different styles; earned a doctorate of Martial Arts Philosophy; received a master’s in Martial Arts Science; has been granted several grandmaster titles; and has been presented with other prestigious honors and awards.

Over the years, he has received a number of awards, several have been first to third place in Philippine Stick Fighting – Full Contact. He was a gold metal winner as the European champion in the Philippine Escrima World Tournament Organization (7 nations). Sifu Leuschner has also been inducted into numerous Hall of Fames.

On August 18 & 19, 2007, in Toronto, Canada, one of Sifu Leuschner’s greatest successes was hosting, directing, and producing of the 1st Open Black Belt World Championship (OBBWC); the first martial art tournament and gala to be featured as a movie on the big screen, sporting all styles and several movie stars at Cineplex across Canada. The OBBWC’s purpose was to unite all martial arts in friendship and elevate martial art championships to international status and fame.

At the Shaolin Temple, Sifu Leuschner had the honor of making the acquaintance of the brother of the Abt and the privilege to partake with him in a special Qi-Gong Energy exchange. Even though many martial artists and millions of tourists visit the Shaolin Temple yearly, only a select view, like Sifu Leuschner, has been honored by a private visit and discussion with such a prominent person.

Sifu Leuschner’s greatest honor came when the Chinese government, the international Olympic Committee and the International Wushu Federation included him in the Wushu Treasure Stamp Album created for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. An even greater honor came when he was among 50 martial artists – the only Canadian – who had enlarged pictures in the album together with legends, celebrities and superstars such as Yip Man, Chiu Chi Ling, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li.
His many feats and great accomplishments in the martial arts have awarded me the great honor.
